Kali Mitchin - Owner/Head Trainer
Kali’s passion for dog training began in childhood, working with her grandmother’s Yorkshire Terrier, Holly. Inspired by agility shows on Animal Planet, she built homemade obstacle courses and knew early on that she wanted a career working with dogs.
In her early 20s, Kali joined the U.S. Coast Guard, serving in Search and Rescue and Law Enforcement roles at a Small Boat Station in San Diego. Although her schedule didn’t allow her to own a dog at the time, she continued training by volunteering with TSA explosive detection teams at the San Diego International Airport.
After transferring to Topeka, Kansas, Kali was finally able to bring home her first personal sport dog. In 2017, she welcomed Jack, a German Shepherd from Kennel de Rossi. Jack quickly became her ideal training partner, earning titles and specialized training across 17 venues, including tracking, detection, advanced obedience, protection sports, dock diving, FastCAT, CGC programs, American Schutzhund, and PSA.
Through training Jack, Kali developed extensive multi-discipline experience and began coaching others. She spent three years as an instructor at Camo Cross Dog Training and served as President of the Tornado Alley Hundesport USCA IGP club. Today, she is the founder and Training Director of Stormchaser Schutzhund Club, one of the founders of the brand new Prairie Fire UKC Club, and continues to collaborate with fellow trainers to grow dog sports and education in the region.
